Arne Emil Jacobsen

Arne Emil Jacobsen makes some of the world’s most beautiful designer furniture.  Besides being incredibly beautiful, the furniture is also practical and stylish.  This specific type of furniture goes best in minimalistic design, where less is more.

Arne Emil Jacobsen

Arne Emil Jacobsen is from Denmark.  The designer furniture is seen back in a range of public buildings across the country.  His influences are now also found outside of Denmark, with some of his designer furniture being used at the St Catherine’s College, which is part of Oxford University.  He started his work in the 1950s and quickly became a staple in post-war design.

Post-War Design

All post-war designers focused on making minimalistic designer furniture.  This meant using materials that didn’t cost the earth and that were simple.  However, what makes these types of furniture so special is their ability to combine the simplicity of the material with intricate designs.

Some designer inspired furniture that is based on Arne Emil Jacobsen’s designs include the Egg Chair, the Swan and the Ant.  All of these are now available from a range of different furniture stores.  What makes these designer inspired chairs so popular is not just that they look great in any household.  It is also their comfort and functionality.  These chairs were pioneers in ergonomics, because each of them focuses on a specific position the body can adopt when sitting.

You don’t need to have a fully minimalistic interior in your home for these chairs to look great.  With the right accessories, they can fit in any type of home.  Best of all, whether you want an original Arne Emil Jacobsen chair, or a chair inspired by his designs, they are very affordable.  This goes back to the simplicity of the materials that are used in the production of these chairs.
